Container cleaning is one of the most audit-sensitive operations in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Residue carryover between batches causes cross-contamination — and insufficient cleaning validation documentation triggers regulatory findings. Whether you are washing pharma bins, IBCs, or granulation and coating equipment in place, the cleaning system must deliver repeatable, validatable results every cycle.
Canaan supplies a complete pharmaceutical washing equipment range: automatic single and double-chamber bin washing stations for large-scale container cleaning, movable WIP washers for flexible multi-room operations, and WIP pump stations for in-place cleaning of fluid-bed dryers, high shear mixers, and coating machines — all GMP/FDA compliant with repeatable, validatable cleaning processes.
QD and QDS bin washing stations complete the full wash-and-dry cycle automatically — inner surface, outer surface, top/bottom ports — without operator contact with the container or cleaning media.
Programmable cleaning cycles with defined parameters — water temperature, pressure, flow, drying time — deliver the same cleaning result every run, supporting cleaning validation documentation.
QD series covers containers from 800 L to 3,000 L; QDS double-chamber from 800 L to 2,000 L. AIS (Automatic Identification System) available for multi-specification bin recognition.
All Canaan washing systems comply with GMP and FDA cleaning requirements — with recycle washing, self-chamber cleaning, and safety interlock systems as standard features.
Choose your washing system based on what you need to clean, your production throughput, and whether you need fixed-station or flexible mobile cleaning.
| What to clean | Throughput need | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Pharma bins / IBCs — fixed washing station | Standard / high volume, one bin at a time | QD Series Bin Washing Station |
| Pharma bins / IBCs — maximum throughput, continuous | High volume: wash + dry simultaneously, two chambers | QDS Series Double-chamber Bin Washing Station |
| Bins / drums in multiple rooms or locations | Flexible, mobile — WIP cleaning at point of use | QY Series Movable Washer |
| Process equipment in-place: fluid-bed, high shear mixer, coater | In-place cleaning of filter bags, spray guns, filter elements | QW Series WIP Pump Station |
All Canaan washing systems are designed for pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industry use — with repeatable, validatable cleaning processes and GMP/FDA compliant documentation support.
CIP (Clean In Place) is a fully automated cleaning process where the equipment or vessel is cleaned without any disassembly — cleaning media circulates through a closed system. WIP (Wash In Place) involves manual participation in some steps, typically disassembly and manual reconnection of specific components or covers, before the automated washing cycle runs. In Canaan's product range: the QD and QDS bin washing stations are CIP-equivalent for containers (fully automatic); the QY movable washer and QW pump station are WIP systems where the operator manually positions connections before the automated cycle starts. WIP is particularly common for fluid-bed filter bag cleaning, coater spray gun cleaning, and portable container washing across multiple rooms.
The QD station uses retractable hydraulic rotating nozzles that extend into the interior of the container and rotate to cover all internal surfaces. Simultaneously, high-pressure nozzles positioned around the chamber clean the outer surface, while dedicated top and bottom nozzles specifically address the inlet and outlet ports — which are often the hardest areas to clean in manual washing. The combination of pressurised, heated cleaning media with full rotational coverage delivers consistent, validatable cleaning results that cannot be achieved manually.
The QDS double-chamber design allows washing and drying to occur simultaneously in separate chambers — while one bin is being washed in the washing chamber, another is being dried in the dedicated drying chamber. This eliminates the sequential wait between wash completion and drying completion that occurs in a single-chamber station, significantly increasing container throughput per shift. The dedicated drying chamber also reduces temperature fluctuation during drying, improving drying consistency and energy efficiency. Choose QDS if your production line washes multiple bins per shift and container turnaround time is a bottleneck.
Yes. All Canaan washing systems are designed with repeatable, validatable processes — a core requirement for pharmaceutical GMP cleaning validation. The washing cycle parameters (cleaning media temperature, pressure, flow rate, cycle time, drying temperature and duration) are programmable and fixed in the control system, ensuring the same cleaning outcome is delivered every cycle. This repeatability is what allows cleaning validation (CV) studies to establish proven cleaning effectiveness at defined parameters. Canaan can provide equipment documentation to support your IQ/OQ/PQ cleaning validation protocols.
The QD series covers container sizes from QD800 (800 L) through QD3000 (3,000 L), and the QDS double-chamber series covers QDS800 through QDS2000 (2,000 L). Both series support multiple container specifications in the same washing station — the AIS (Automatic Identification System) option automatically recognises which bin specification has entered the washing chamber and selects the correct washing program without manual parameter adjustment. Contact us with your specific bin dimensions and specifications to confirm compatibility and recommend the correct washing station size.
The QD and QDS stations use purified water (WFI or PW as specified) heated by steam, delivered by the pump station at controlled pressure. Cleaning detergents can be added to the cleaning media for specific residue types. A recycle washing system is available as standard — washing media is filtered and recirculated to reduce water consumption and effluent volume. The self-chamber cleaning function also cleans the washing chamber itself at the end of each cycle, preventing residue buildup inside the station between uses.
