Process Exploration of Improving the Enterprise Standard of High Shear Mixer Acceptance Granularity

Current enterprise standard of granularity of High Shear Mixer, using dextrin (1): icing sugar (2): corn starch (3), starch paste with 10% binder, after granulation, the granule size should meet “the mass of granules and powder larger than 2mm and less than 0.18mm should not be more than 25% of total granules mass”.

According to the current enterprise standard formula of materials and binder, the experiment is planning to use dextrin (1): icing sugar (2): corn starch (3), starch paste with 10% binder on Canaan LHSZ25 High Shear Mixer. The mass of expected granules and powder greater than 2mm and less than 0.18mm (larger than 10 mesh and smaller than 80 mesh) should account for 10% to 15% of total granules mass, so as to support the improvement of enterprise standard to “the mass of granules and powder larger than 2mm and less than 0.18mm should not be more than 20% of total granules mass”.

After exploring wet granulation process for many times, the better ideal granularity distribution data than expected was obtained.

After analyzing and summarizing the process-explored granules size data, the proportion of wet granules below 80meshes in all dry granules is 5.86%. Therefore, based on the result of this process exploration, in the enterprise standard of Canaan’s High Shear Mixer, the granularity standard can improve to “the mass of granules and powder larger than 2mm and less than 0.18mm should not be more than 20% of total granules mass”.
