The Challenge
## Building a Complete Pharma Factory from Scratch — in a Third Country
Gen, a Turkish pharmaceutical company, planned to establish a new oral solid dosage manufacturing facility in Azerbaijan. The objective was to enable local production of solid dosage medicines — from raw material processing through to finished, packaged products — improving local drug production capacity and availability.
The project presented a layered challenge: Gen needed a single supplier capable of delivering a complete solid dosage manufacturing line — wet granulation, drying, blending, capsule filling, coating, and secondary packaging. As a cross-border pharmaceutical EPC project involving a Turkish client building in Azerbaijan with Chinese-manufactured equipment, coordination complexity was high. Gen required a partner who could manage the entire lifecycle from process design through factory acceptance and delivery.

On the Ground
## Equipment Built for Real Production Conditions
Every machine in this turnkey pharmaceutical production line was manufactured at Zhejiang Canaan Technology Limited’s headquarters in Wenzhou City’s Yongjia Industrial Park. Founded in 2000, Canaan is the first company in the field of solid dosage equipment manufacturing to be listed on China’s A-share market. The complete line covers the full solid dosage workflow — from raw powder granulation through to carton-packed, distribution-ready finished products.
This project represents Canaan’s first complete pharmaceutical engineering turnkey project in the Caucasus region, demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver pharmaceutical turnkey solutions for international markets with complex coordination requirements.
Delivery & Validation
## Factory Acceptance Test — All Systems Passed on First Attempt
All equipment underwent rigorous factory acceptance testing (FAT) at Canaan’s Health Industry Park before shipment. The testing scope covered equipment performance, control system functionality, and production output metrics across every machine in the line.
Every piece of equipment — from the high shear mixer through to the cartoning machine — met Gen’s acceptance criteria on the first test cycle. The formal handover ceremony was held on June 8, 2026, with Gen’s leadership team on-site to inspect and accept the completed line.
